Fools!

This is a three-storey building with three apartments, one on each level. The upper-most apartment is at street level with road access and a door at the front. The other two apartments are on the two floors below, each has a door at the side which is accessed by an unbelievably steep and straight staircase. Certainly I would think twice about setting foot on such a stairway. Thankfully, I don't have to. Some clever sausage has put the access gate (hinged) directly behind a fixed crash barrier. It's a nice touch that the gate has been tied closed with rope. One can of course access the staircase at the side from the forecourt of the upper-most apartment but the top of the staircase does not have winding steps so one's first step down from the forecourt to the top of the staircase would need full concentration.

NB When designing a building, it's always a good idea to conduct a site-survey in person.

PS It was only after I had found this did I realise the date :-)
