What a fine day we've had! Phil and I were met at the Seattle train station by his daughter E and grandchildren Z and B, and after a brief time at their home, met daughter S for a tasty lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant. S works near that restaurant, and we were glad that she could join us and we could remember the day with a photo of the three generations.

The outstanding Bellevue Botanical Garden was our next stop. I could happily have spent the rest of the day there photographing the hundreds of familiar and unusual flowers, plants, and trees. Here are five examples of the richness this 53-acre community treasure offers -- blippers who love to photograph flowers will enjoy them!

Z and B took to train travel like the proverbial ducks to water. We were fortunate in having two pairs of facing seats with a table in between, where Z wrote in her diary, B played with a game, and we all enjoyed the views and a variety of light food from the train bistro car.

They've unpacked and made themselves at home in the guest room, but Z and B are up much later than usual (almost 11pm), and it's time for all of us to say good night!

(Phil's take on the day is here.)
