Hardy Country

We drove a few miles down into Dorset for our Sunday lunch today. The sun was shining and the countryside looked beautiful, as always. At this time of year the fields are brown, coffee-coloured, and of course the trees are still bare.
We had a delicious home-cooked lunch in a little thatched pub, where Russet was welcomed and even given a water bowl and biscuits! Afterwards she and I had a walk by a stream and around farmlands, while JF had a snooze in the car! (Well, maybe).
Having just finished a re-read of Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles for our Bookclub tomorrow, it was a most appropriate landscape to be in for the day!
