After a few days visiting my parents and decorating, it was a very wet journey home. Very heavy rain and hail made driving unpleasant with spray from lorries on the motorway reducing our vision. The hilltops of the Lake District and Southern Uplands were obscured so it was good to find the sky clearing and very good visibility as we got within an hour of home. The soils around Lauder are a beautiful reddish colour and here the sun was highlighting a distant field with its grass while across the road lambs were frolicking in the fields.
