Scooting

Billycart/trolley derby day today. Semi-disaster in two parts, narrowly averted. We had arranged for the kids to share the cart; the lad and his friends to use it, then when time for the older kids, missy-moo and her friend. Problem the first part raised its ugly head when we discovered that years 3 to 6 were all going at once. 

Oh ... crap.

Ok, you'll just have to alternate. Despite the huge Millenium Falcon add-on that missy-moo and her friend need; we'll have to swap that over after half an hour or something. This will work.

... yeeah ... about that ...

Part the second was the lad's team melting away, as a boy's helmet was damaged, so he couldn't race, and the girl had arranged to go with someone else. Lad did not want to join with missy-moo and friend, so there was much down-in-the-mouth-ness. 

Happily, another friend (and his two other friends) welcomed him in. Not exactly a thematic fit, as they were Stampycat from Minecraft, and he was of course dressed up as a Nascar race driver.

But ... everybody happy.

Amusingly, there were many Star Wars carts and costumes. There were at least four Reys (couting missy-moo); there were a few Darth Vaders, a Boba Fett, and some stormtroopers. Oh, and ONE Kylo Ren, who I think removed his mask very shortly. 

There were more stormtroopers than Kylo Ren. One boy had even preerred to dress as the female stormtrooper captain Fasma, rather than Kylo Ren. Just underscores the idiocy of Star Wars/Disney's merchandising, which has been so intent on pushing Kylo Ren, and ignoring Rey.
