Wearing purple...

A grand Lancashire day out...

...we even saw Blackpool Tower!
Set off for Fleetwood via Great Eccleston for the best haddock & chip lunch. Caught the ferry - a shed on water - to Knott End and had a meander down memory lane - aka the sea wall - to what used to be the sailing centre, where the three of us used to attempt to steer people in the right direction on the river Wyre many years ago. The centre is no more, and the buildings were bought privately - but it looks exactly the same! The old buggy we used to drag the petrol along the sea wall in was still there - minus wheels, there was an old RIB still on its rusting trailer, the classroom was still full of old papers and the kitchen equipment hadn't been touched.
Returned to Fleetwood for a cuppa, then called in to Skipool to see the sailing club, and the mud grocklers in the creek. Boats are kept there against stagings, and can only get out when there's water at particularly high tides. There are lots of old hulks - like today's blip - which won't be floating out any time soon, no matter how high the water gets...
I'll try to add a couple of extras - another gate, and a couple of old codgers waiting for the ferry with a statue of Lowry, who used to sit near the slipway at Knott End sketching.
