Cook of the Year!

Leonarda prepares the dinner of the year! At the place we like to stay in Bucerias, it is possible to hire this wonderful lady to cook a delicious dinner for you, right in your own apartment. We learned from years past to have her come on the second night we are there so that we have the rest of the days to eat the leftovers. Her chiles rellenos are our favorite.
Menu: Chiles rellenos (made with giant poblanos), sauteed garlic shrimp, beans, rice with vegetables, tomato salsa, two kinds of guacamole, and freshly made tortillas. 
The photo is of her making the tortillas on the heftiest tortilla press I have ever seen! I am trying to learn to make tortillas, and she gave me some hot tips on getting the masa the right consistency and getting them from the press to the grill without crumpling. Practice, practice! 
The cost of this is 130 pesos per person plus the cost of the food, which in this case added up to 860 pesos, which is about $50 US at today's exchange rate. 
She earned and received a big tip!
