Homeward bound

It snowed last night but this morning was beautiful. We got up early and onto the slopes as the lifts opened to make the most of our last morning. It was by far and away the best skiing of the week.

Back at the resort we returned our skis and picnic-ed on the small hotel room balcony. We loaded our bags onto the bus and set off for Chambèry - I nursing a bottle of Jenlain Blonde.

We arrived at the airport at 3 for a 7 o'clock flight. We couldn't even check our bags in until 5, so we camped on the ratty 'lawn' outside the terminal until it got too chilly. Ferdi bought a pack of cards and we played 'Irish' snap.

Airports, queues, unexplained delays, inexplicable procedures, waiting for other planes to land, landing in far flung reaches of EDI, buses meandering from one extreme of the airport to the other, waiting again while a Ryanair flight disgorged, queue for immigration, wait for bags, done!

Joe met us at the airport - definitely the best part of the journey - and patiently waited outside the Penny-cook while we picked up a good, healthy, Scottish tea.

Arrived home to find Johnny & Cameron watching golf on the internet.
