K looking intrepid

Finally decided that it was time for an independent expedition and we set off to conquer svartfjellet, a small local hill (See extras).

The weather was fine but we had to use all our skills just to stay on the track.

It felt brilliant reaching the pile of stones at the top, though we had to abandon our skis a few hundred yards away because there just wasn't the snow cover.

The distant hills appeared and disappeared in the clouds and we were careful not to lose our bearings.

Getting off the hill was quicker and more dramatic than getting up it and were were back at the hotel for a late lunch.

Only 16km, but we really felt we had achieved something on our independent expedition. The extra is of svartfjellet itself.
