We have often walked past Winton House and this afternoon took the opportunity of visiting on its annual Gardens Open Day in aid of the Marie Curie fund.  Millions of daffodils adorned the grounds (extra) but the highlight was the tour of the house and we were very fortunate to be shown round by the owner.   He is keen to ensure the house retains its original historical features which if necessary are restored or renovated using craftsmen and any modernisation is in keeping with the character of the place and so enabling it to be in an excellent condition for the future generations.   We saw parts of the very old castle in the basement and several rooms with 400 year old very ornate plaster ceilings, moulds of which were made recently to restore ceilings in Edinburgh Castle (I think)  The photo taken with my phone from the top of the tower, shows the twisted chimneys which are quite rare in Scotland.  It was a most interesting and enjoyable visit.
