Ramblings and Mutterings

Peak Plateau

Brilliant day!

I travelled north today to meet Twitter friends Geoff and Chrissie, and their dogs Pebbles and Islay.  They live in the Peak District and it was great to walk somewhere different.

We set out early afternoon to walk the Kinder Scout plateau.  Geoff deliberately took a quieter route, as Kinder Scout is as busy as Pen y Fan on times.  We didn’t see anyone until we eventually started to climb up onto the plateau, and it was very busy.  There was a DoE group, no sign of teamwork, a couple set off likes hares and raced past us.  As we caught them up they sitting down waiting for their colleagues to catch them up.  Bit daft really!  Why not support your colleagues?  It doesn’t do morale any good.

We stopped to take photos on the Kinder Low trig point and then made our way back down, after a quick refreshment break.  As we made the descent the rain started, a sprinkling of hail as well.  We were a little damp by the time we eventually made it back to Geoff’s house.

I look forward to walking a lot more in the Peak District, the geology was particularly fascinating.

We had homemade pizzas in the evening, and they were delicious.  I felt really relaxed today, all my worries had faded away.
