Haysden

After a day on the phones at the CAB without a lunch break, I needed to stretch my legs and went for a brisk walk round Haysden Country Park  on the way home, where it really was too sunny even at 5 o'clock.  This shot is taken on the "straight mile".  If you look at the location map you can see the unusually straight bits of river which were attempts in the 1830s  to make the  Medway navigable for barges all the way to Penshurst, a further 5 miles up river.  The project went bankrupt and to this day, to get to Penshurst by river, you need to go by canoe or maybe a paddle board.
