Road closed

This is the A24, London to Worthing road. Part of it will be closed for the two days of the Olympic Cycle Race, together with the A25, Maidstone to Guildford road and the A246, Leatherhead to Guildford road. Not to mention all the little byways, lanes and residential roads that the route takes. The closures start at 4 am and finish several hours after the cyclists have passed. Poor Normous would have to take a ten mile detour via the M25 should he want to play golf!

The plus side is that all the route has been resurfaced, the ditches cleared out and the verges cut. (This, in turn, has meant more road closures over the past few months!)

On the roundabout is the new sculpture of two cyclists to commemmorate the race going through Dorking.

We are in two minds as to whether to go and watch but they won't come this way again.

Meanwhile, the torch goes through Dorking tomorrow!
