Abstract Thursday: Busy, busy

I was very busy this morning, I used these 2 objects for very good purposes and am pleased with the results. Any ideas what they are and how I used them?
I had 2 smelly over ripe bananas left in the fruit bowl so decided to make some banana bread instead of putting them in the compost bin. I found a recipe and adapted it so I only made a small loaf and with very little sugar. It was delicious especially the crusty outer bits. It's the first cake I have made in years!
