Magnolia

When we first came to this house nearly fifty years ago my in-laws gave us a little magnolia. They thought it was the spring flowering type that is looking so beautiful in front gardens at the moment, but in fact it is a magnolia grandiflora that has grown into a large tree that produces huge blooms in the summer. So, to get this photo I walked a little way, (good exercise for my hip), dodging all the holes dug by the gas men, and blipped these lovely blooms in someone else's front garden.
