The Malvern Hills from Auchenflower Road, with Mount Torlesse dreaming in the slight haze.

There was a bit of drama in the apple tree today, on the very apples blipped with the waxeyes yesterday. The picked-at apple attracts many insects. I saw from a window that a praying mantis was on the apple below it. I went out with my camera and was taking a shot of it when I was distracted by a butterfly fluttering in to feed on the apple. I had only to lift the camera a little to capture it. But suddenly it was struck broadside by a wasp, which quickly took its place. The bully, I thought, but I was forgetting the mantis, that was patiently waiting… You can see the action in my extra shots.
