Angle Tarn

Last night's rain had turned to snow on the tops, and we woke to an an utterly beautiful - and icy - blue-sky morning. Splendid views from the campsite (see extras).

After one of MrM's huge big Sunday breakfasts, and taking Louie for a short stroll by Brotherswater, we returned to the caravan, packed a picnic lunch and  set out for a circular walk around Angle Tarn. The sun shone all day and it wasn't long before we shed our jackets. 'Twas an excellent route affording some fabulous views of Angle Tarn and, beyond it, the Helvellyn range. It was a little longer than anticipated - 13km rather than the 9km on the route description we'd picked up at the camp site - and, though it didn't take us on to any of the high tops, was quite challenging enough for those of us who haven't attempted a serious hill walk for a while.

After the exertions of the day we treated ourselves to a meal at the Brotherswater Inn, and very good it was too. The chocolate tart is highly recommended...
