Knot

I've had a busy but nice day that has included a morning swim, lunch out with Janette and making bread. I popped down to the doctors late afternoon in the rain and snapped this public art.

A local sculpture made from stainless steel inlaid with bronze and mosaic. I love that the colours are still vibrant in spite of the gloomy weather.

According to the artist, Michael Johnson, the form is reminiscent of the ‘pour’ of molten steel from a furnace and the details reflect the industry of Sheffield’s East End. It is made from a series of threads, symbolising the people who comprise the diverse communities that make up the area joined together in a knot.
