The undercarriage

I am thankful to have this blip as today was mostly wet and very busy with chores, errands and appointments so not generally a photography day.

This tiny bug is the same size as a ladybird and I thought it was a juvenile shield bug crawling up the window. Luckily rather than misinform you and embarrass myself, I ran it by my favourite bug geek Intothehills who sent me a link identifying it instead as a Thistle Tortoise Beetle. What a great name! We don't often see the underside of a beetle but it's quite fascinating. The upper side is an extra.
