The Hard Stuff

Scrap Art (if that is the right name for it) always makes me smile.

This aptly named sculpture is at the Long Shop Museum, Leiston, Suffolk, formerly part of an engineering works making agricultural machinery, steam engines and trolley buses. It is made from parts of steam boilers and other scrap iron, as well as some tools of the trade, with the initial letter 'G' for Garrett, as displayed on steam engines made there.

The company, founded by Richard Garrett in 1778, was finally closed by his successors in 1981 and The Long Shop is now a museum dedicated to its proud history.
