Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

Flying over Barcelona, Spain.
Our direct flight home was cancelled yesterday afternoon, so we spent our evening making revised travel arrangements.
Our holiday apartment had been burgled when we returned after sightseeing on Wednesday - so we did not want to extend our stay any further. We couldn't get a direct flight to Manchester on Saturday, so our journey home was torturous.
A taxi to Fiumicino airport. A flight from Rome to Barcelona, then another from Barcelona to London Heathrow. From Heathrow, we took the train to Paddington Station, then a taxi to Euston Station. Then a train to Manchester Piccadilly and a taxi home. Over 14 hours of travel!
We did not let the burglary did not spoil our holiday (fortunately our passports were not taken), but the flight cancellation was the straw that broke the camel's back. We had a wonderful week in Rome and I am very glad that I have been. Sadly, some parts of the experience will prevent me from returning for a long time.
