"Wind like a whetted knife"

Masefield's words pounded in my head as the icy wind blew straight from the snow covered hills to where I was trying to walk! Jaw and ears ached, so covered everything and lurched along! The Cairngorms are behind the white snow cloud. Stayed briefly at the lochan and then headed back and then, unexpected, heard a Golden Plover, then saw three Wheatears, back for summer nesting! That made the cold trip worthwhile. There were also Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Curlew and Snipe, all nesting.
Decided then to see how the Ospreys were. The extra shows the male looking fierce, guarding his female as the rogue male is still there, chancing his luck! The male saw him off and then mated with her.
