Another fine old ruin

and the stones aren't too bad either - ho-ho.
Allt Chrystal was excavated in the late 90s and the structure you can see it probably the second best wheelhouse on the islands - local loyalties reserve the serious accolade for the Grimsay wheelhouse.
At the time of excavation, more interesting was the older Neolithic traces that were found but nothing of those remains now.
Some birding today too and the extra photo is a Glaucous Gull showing off on the west coast of the island.
In the evening off to a local hotel, Heathbank, for dinner following local recommendations. A good recommendation it proved to be with a variety of interesting and tasty bit and pieces garnered from the sea. Monkfish massala and cockle popcorn to name but two. Barra is proving to be a bit of a foody destination, particularly compared to the relative culinary wastes of the Uists.
Today was my last day of work and so looking forward to not getting up early tomorrow!
