Which way is West?

Today this was my favourite compass. I've used it a few times in recent months and loved its old style simplicity. We were running a race (well I was struggling to keep up with Petra whilst she confidently ran). Petra was using the compass for a while.

"Dad I find this compass confusing because the directions are wrong"! Now I see the typo I really get confused! I can't believe I didn't spot it before.

Today I'm grateful for a lovely burning sensation in my thighs.
