Crazy About Birds

Another Woodpecker Collage!

Herewith a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers. Male on the left, female on the right. Note that the male has a red cap that is unbroken from his bill back to the nape of his neck while the female has a space between her red bits just above her bill, and the red back of her head/neck. You can also see why they're called Red-bellied if you look at the female.

Lovely day here today. I'm thinking about buying some vegetable bedding plants soon... Tomatoes! I'm also expecting to welcome the first Ruby-throated Hummingbird back from his winter vacation soon. April 19th is the day I typically see the first one... Fingers crossed!
