Tucked away

Herne Bay is an inner city suburb of Auckland City. It is presently the most expensive area for housing in New Zealand. This is one of the reasons. Many of the waterfront properties around the edge of Herne Bay have riparian rights, meaning they can maintain an already existing jetty or boatshed. If such a structure does not exist, owners can still access the water directly from their property; there is no Council owned reserve between them and the water.

The slopes down from Jervois Road to the harbour's edge have long been sought after. The desire for a sea view has seen prices rise rapidly in the last 20 years. Even being close to this area is now expensive, without views let alone water access.

The harbour remains a beauty to be admired, cherished and shared by all. As it should be.
