Lathyrus Odoratus

By lathyrus

Quercus robur

I've noticed the oak trees coming into leaf over the past three or four days - at least on the south facing sides. The north facing branches are still in bud. This particular oak is a veteran, its trunk almost entirely hollow such that the spaniel and I sometimes shelter inside it if we get caught out in heavy rain. There would be room for a couple more people. Despite its great age it still produces these wonderful young leaves. I saw a kingfisher by the river but it sped past before I could even lift the camera to the eye. Also saw my first orange tip butterfly of the year.
