Old General Herbarium: HDR

(Much more immersive in large...)
This is the Old General Herbarium (again); it is the "ghost herbarium" that is no longer full of filed specimens, but is used for storage of odds and ends, including the piles of specimens on palettes in the foreground which constitute part of the backlog... These are the specimens that have been sent in, but are yet to be processed and (possibly) incorporated into the collection.

I very much enjoy walking through this space to get from the old part of the NHM (the Waterhouse Building) through to the new part of the NHM (the Darwin Centre: DC2 and DC1). It has an amazing atmosphere: it looks like it has such purpose, but all of the cabinets stand empty. It is now the spare room of the NHM (for the time being).

I made an HDR image out of 5 handheld shots: the lighting is much better (e.g. bringing out the bright reflections on the cabinets), and it greatly augmented the general feel of the photo.
