They're Back!

Swallow (Hirundo rustica)

Another sure indicator that summer is on its way.  I helped Mrs GC at the riding yard this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find a healthy community of swallows 'ducking and diving' in and out of the stables.  It looks as though some are already re-coccupying nests from last year.

I tried my damnedest to photograph one in flight but captured only thin air.  This little fella obviously took pity on me and posed on this post for a few seconds.  He can't have been more than 8 feet away.
