Culzean Castle and Country Park .....

..... a remarkable vision of turrets and battlements, surrounded by surging seas, lush forests and secret gardens.  The castle itself (a National Trust property) stands on a dramatic cliff top overlooking the Firth of Clyde.

L and I decided this wonderful spot was to be our outing for today.  A beautiful day with wonderful blue skies but it was rather chilly when walking near the cliff path.  We did enjoy our coffee and later lunch sitting outside the courtyard cafe.  We will most certainly return in a few weeks to see how many cygnets hatch from the eggs the swan was carefully protecting.  There is a huge swan pond in the estate but is home to only one pair.
