...Día de San Jorge...400 aniversario de Shakespeare...Ramon Llull: 700 años...
They do love a fiesta here, and today was a biggie: world book day, Shakespeare's and Llull's anniversaries. Llull's a big literary guy here - all I know of him is that I can't pronounce his name. In Mahon the streets were packed with stalls selling all manner of books, including a collection devoted to a recreational plant (see bottom right) and roses for St. George (at 5 euros a stem I wasn't tempted). There was also a hen party in progress, somewhat more tasteful than the Liverpool equivalent, though so full of joy it made all the passers-by smile. Enjoy it while you can, dearie...
