The Edge of the Wold

Arnside sunset (No. 227)

Well, I may be exaggerating the number somewhat - but there have been quite a few of them over the last two years, and every one is different. Tonight the air was still, and the pooled water off the pier was reflecting the clouds as they coloured. This may be best viewed large.

There was a young and charming Chinese lady with her father at the end of the pier, she was happily shooting with her Canon. She came to show me her photos and was asking advice on settings, she had been on Auto and the flash was going off with each press of the shutter. I'm not sure I was any help in my inept explanations, but she was graciously grateful anyway. And while we were looking at her camera, the sun slipped beneath the Lake District fells.

It's been a long and sometimes challenging week in all sorts of ways, but there have been some good laughs along the way. And now it's the weekend, the forecast is looking good, and barring an unexpected mishap, Wiggins looks set to ride to victory on Sunday.
