ANZAC..........

........Day

Our National Day of Commemoration remembering those who died serving in our armed forces.

This was taken after the Dawn Service with my daughter and grandchildren standing by some of the crosses which form the local Field of Remembrance.
The Fields of Remembrance Trust was established in 2012 to honour those who served and died for our nation during World War One.
One hundred years ago in 1914-1918 more than 18,000 New Zealanders were killed - this from a population of barely one million. See this link for further information.

Thank you for the comments and stars for yesterday’s ‘Lolly Shop’ blip. It is a favourite place for the grandchildren to visit when they are here on holiday – and they are limited to the number of sweets they get to choose and buy.
