JA 1274

This is the display housing JA 1274 - the last steam locomotive to be built by New Zealand Railways which was in service hauling passengers from 1956 - 1971.
It has been on display since 1975 & it used to be the absolute delight of both children & adults visiting the Otago Early Settlers Museum as they could climb into it.
Now it's on display as pictured, which is quite understandable but not nearly as much fun.
The reflections show the buildings opposite - including the old Dunedin prison.
