Dream Flight

This sculpture (by Philomena Davidson) in Milton Keynes shopping centre depicts a young girl (her daughter actually!) riding a magic carpet. It represents magic moments and escapism in childhood games.

I love the joy and open-ended possibility this piece represents. Our children need have no limits imposed on them, especially from our own anxieties or prejudices.

"If you can't fly, then run;
 If you can't run, then walk;
 If you can't walk, then crawl -
 But whatever you do, you have to keep on moving . . ."
   (Martin Luther King, Jnr.)
