The Upsurging Spirit

Sculptor Kaarina Kaikkonen makes sculptures out of recycled materials. In the Koukkurannankatu street in Vuores there is her environmental art work Sisulla noustiin, the Upsurging Spirit. She has collected hundreds of old skis, most of them donated by the people from Iisalmi and Mänttä. In addition to history of skiing the artwork tells that today's welfare is a result of hard work of many generations.

It snowed in the night, but it melted fast. In the afternoon I picked up hubby from work and we drove home via Vuores, I wanted finally see Kaikkonen's work Sisulla noustiin.

Luckily Emma is feeling better already, but suddenly Leevi started to get fever. His four day holiday ended today and he had to return to Parolannummi garrison no matter what. We didn't want him to travel there by train with fever, we drove him there instead. Hopefully Leevi will feel better soon. Luckily he'll be back home next Thursday.
