Dunaverty Bay from Kiel

Bright, sunny, and windy.

We went the ten miles or so South to the aptly named Southend. Just by the village of Southend is Dunaverty Bay which has a nice beach. We followed the road round to Carskey Bay which has (what we think) is an even nicer beach. We had a walk with Maeve the Deerhound. From the beach we could easily see the 13 miles or so across to the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland.

The photo is of Dunaverty Bay from just above the cemetery at Kiel from the site of "St Columba's footprints". As well as the beach at Dunaverty you can see the Sanda islands and to the left of them in the distance Ailsa Craig.

From Carskey Bay the road becomes single track and leads over higher ground to the Mull of Kintyre.
