Life through the lens...

KAWS

I know some of you may have seen this photo before, but it was our first visit this year to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
The last time we went was to see the Tower of London Poppies.
This was so different, but also very enjoyable.
These huge sculptures are by the American artist Brian Donnelly, known as KAWS. They were such fun, and made us both laugh. Even MrC enjoyed them!
This was our favourite as the wood had been left natural, and you could see all the different colours. ( see extra photo which gives you some idea of the size)
They do come in apart for transportation, with huge cranes used to put them together again.
The exhibition is on until the 12th June. See here for a link

The other reason for our visit today was to see the herons nesting, and also walk through the woods, where we hoped the bluebells would be out.
We were not disappointed, as they were at their best.
( see extra photos)

We had mainly sunshine, but just the odd hail storm. We took shelter in the shell grotto, and watched two yellow wagtails searching for food. They must have had a nest somewhere, but we couldn't see it.

It was nice to see parties of school children also enjoying the park, but walking through the woods we had the place to ourselves. So peaceful, except for the song of the birds, and of course the occasional loud squawking of the Canada geese.

A lovely place to spend the day.
