Testing

Today has been a testing day. In a good way - I got to test the draft of Matthew with two ladies. It's a fascinating process. You read together then ask questions to check their understanding of the words/phrases etc the translators have chosen.

Some concepts they don't get but that's no fault of the translators. For example, Matt 2 talks about a "ruler who will shepherd my people ". One lady insisted this was Wrong! A ruler is high, a shepherd is lowly. You can't be both. It was wonderful being able to explain about our Servant King. She still said that for this culture it's  "wrong". She loved the Beatitudes. I just love seeing people read this for the very first time!
