Painted Turtles ....

We didn’t stray far today as tomorrow we have a big blipmeet planned!

R had read about an Audubon sanctuary that was not far from our condo so after breakfast we drove over to check it out.  The property was very nice but we thought that there was going to be a building with someone from the Audubon Society there!  We had hoped to talk to someone about the area and get some advice as to where the best birding/wildlife areas were.  But that was not to be!  The only building on the property was a Barn Swallow habitat house.

But we were there so we walked some of the trails that are on the property.  As we were walking around the pond this cat came out of nowhere and ran up to me!  I gave him/her (I didn’t look!) a few pats and off it ran again! I don’t know what it is but we seem to attract cats wherever we go!

As we made our way around the pond we spied these painted turtles enjoying the sunshine.  You would not believe what I had to go through to get this shot! Scraping up against some tree bark was involved!  At the sanctuary we also saw frogs, Canada geese, barn swallows and bluebirds (see extra).

After lunch back at the condo we headed towards Woods Hole to visit Nobska Lighthouse and some other things in that area.   While we were coming out of the local Wal-Mart I saw an Osprey nest up on a light post with the female on it.  That would be the first of many osprey sightings!  They seem to be everywhere!

After supper we went back to South Cape Beach to watch the sunset again.   Simply Beautiful.
