Picked Strawberries Today

This is one pound of the 8 1/2  pounds of fresh strawberries we picked today.  All the area "pick your own" fields are open.  The scales in this photo sat on my grandmother's counter-top for as long as I remember.  (Grandmother died in 1971.)  Strawberries are $1.30 per pound at Indigo Farms when you pick them yourself.  They are $3.99 a quart when you buy them already picked.  I bet you have the same question I did which is how many pounds make a quart?  The folks there said 1 1/2 to 2.  I'm not sure.  It took us 20 minutes for pick 8 1/2 pounds.
