The First Ferry of the Season

9.3C starting cloudy with a few light showers then clearing to sunny and bright. Light to moderate Westerly breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound wanted out early this morning which was a bit of a surprise as she has been sleeping later since we came here. Since it was before 7am I decided to make for the ferry terminal. We got there in time to see the first ferry of the season set off for Adrossan. The first boat should have been yesterday but the wind was apparently gusting to strongly (over 30mph), so it was cancelled.

After lunch Maeve and I went for our walk. Capercaillie on the Nano (The Blood is Strong). We crossed the road and made our way across the park to the esplanade then instead of turning right and going along to the harbour we turned left and went along to the yacht club and then walked out Low Askomill road along the shore of the loch to the old shipyard. For the curious amongst you there is an upper road, the one that goes up the East side of the Kintyre peninsula to Carradale and Cloanaig. It is called High Askomill.

As we walked along the shore opposite the harbour there were boats coming and going. The old shipyard at the end of the road has been completely dismantled and only concrete platforms and a dock remain, but it was a good vantage point for a different view of Davaar island and for a view back across the loch to town.

We came back along the way we had gone, and went along to the harbour before we came back home.
