tempus fugit

Eat like a bird

I went for a walk in the evening sunshine (forecast to be followed by heavy rain tomorrow) and was delighted to find that all along the path thrushes had been bashing snails on every embedded stone. Although it's not good news for the molluscs I'm always pleased to see the broken shell-scapes and to know that this once-familiar but now seriously threatened* song bird is active and numerous along the woodland edge. There's something endearing about the way  the debris around the anvils resembles the nut shells, fruit husks and cheese rinds left on the table at the end of a particularly good meal.
