Just a glimpse

A thin slice was all that was visible of the sun as it rose above Kawau Island this morning. The clouds were lying low, and before seeing this brief flash of the sun I had expected that the sunrise would be evidenced only by the colours in the clouds.

A number of young men were some way apart in two groups on the edge of Kawau Bay, casting nets and hoping to catch some fish. The gulls were almost frantic as they waited for "their share". My photos did not do them justice.

A satisfying day at the beachhouse today. We emptied some boxes of books onto some bookcases rescued from the now defunct private practice rooms. Books which have been in these boxes for nearly 13 years.

A couple more boxes to go. Plus some sorting and weeding.
