Life through the lens...

Holy well

We went to recce next Sunday's walk, which we are leading.
We actually did this walk from Judy Woods, Wyke, Bradford to Coley, Norwood Green and back.last year, but how things can change in 12 months.
Half way round there were notices up about the closure of footpaths due to work being carried out by Calderdale Council.
However we were pleased to see the start date was the 10th May. Two days after our walk.
What a relief!
The photo is Lister's Well, in front of the Sister's House, in Priestley Green.
Said to date back to when The Knights Templers owned the land round here,
In 1904 it was said to possess magic cures for all who drank it's crystal waters, and pilgrimages were made to it.
The importance of this well means it has not been covered over, but has been left open at the side of the pavement.
The woods were full of bluebells, but not quite at their best. Hopefully next weekend they will be fully out.
Our highlight was two greater spotted woodpeckers chasing one another.
Well MrC saw two, I only saw one!
Although the weather was quite cool it was mainly dry.
Managed to get home in time to see the last 80 k of The Tour of Yorkshire.
Great to see the steam trains in Grosmont as they cycled over the level crossing, and the lifeboat in Whitby as they crossed the bridge.
So glad the TV technical problems were sorted out for today.
Extra photo of the waterfall.
