May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii

This hat lei is the grand prize winner in the lei day contest today at Kapiolani Park.  Long stems of the mock orange were stripped to leave a solitary end leaf and these waved merrily in the breeze, making this very eye-catching.  The creator said it reminded him of a feather boa!  The lauhala hat it is on and the background greenery highlight the choice.
