Ramblings and Mutterings

Just look

Up early for my annual trip to the Talgarth Walking Festival.  There may be other and bigger walking festivals within the Brecon Beacons National Park, but for me this is the best situated of them all.  It’s also a nice little town, very friendly and welcoming to all the walkers and visitors that come over this weekend.  And they do come from all over, on my walk there were people from Leicester, Leeds, Bedfordshire and Essex.

It was only a short 5 mile walk today, but it was great to learn more about nature and wildlife and that was my objective of joining this walk.  It was led by the Brecknock Wildlife Trust to their small little nature reserve of Trewalkin Meadow.  The views were great and we could see Pen y Fan, Dragons Back etc, but for me it was all about looking at the small things in life.  Beauty surrounds us everywhere, we just need to look.

This was my list of birds seen and heard:  Nuthatch, chaffinch, dipper, coal tit, black cap, grey heron, chiffchaff, greenfinch, redstart, dunnock, great tit, buzzard, red kite, blue tit, goldfinch, song thrush, mistle thrush, wren and robins, oh as well as crows and sparrows.

Great day!

Peaceful weekend as well.  Whohoo!
