May Day

We had a somewhat unique coincidence of Orthodox Easter and May Day falling on the same day this year.  Both are, as ever, colourful displays.  The parade generally runs in good spirits and always presents a rich pageant for street photographers - irrespective of whether or not the messages on the banners resonate with one or not!  The parade was an hour late today - and the communists always pride themselves on their time keeping.  Maybe it's not all like it was in olden days.

PS added another extra - a couple impersonating Vera Mukhina's famous statue (blipped here too)

In contrast, crowd management kept the public from getting close to the Easter proceedings at the Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow so that blip gets a place amongst the extras today.
