Mr. Mischief

Our current resident fox is bold and mischievous. He seems to patrol the garden several times a day, and this evening I caught him while he was having a snack of stale cat biscuits, which are much loved by many garden visitors including the blackbirds nesting in one of our sheds, and Russell crow, who has now returned to make a nest in our next door neighbour's tree.

He seems to take a particular delight in chasing our cats, and once or twice has nearly followed them through the cat flap. We have seen a couple of direct encounters, but during the most recent one Daisy whopped him smartly on the nose with her claws out. She never stood any nonsense from our dogs and treats the fox with the same contempt. I don't think he's a serious threat, and none of the cats seem particularly bothered by him. He's also not really very bothered by us - yesterday I was out in the garden photographing a small fly and apparently he walked right round me, much to the amusement of Pete who was watching from the house!
