In The Occupied Territory

Going back to my roots

A fine afternoon meant we were able to get into the garden and attempt to clear out of this upper part of it. It is full of weeds (ground elder) and, as you can see, snow drops by the hundreds, along with other plant life. This is the area we want to use for growing our vegetables etc.
The bare earth bits that you can see are all we managed to clear in a couple of hours.
Imagine our dismay when we discovered that along the back wall, buried under the earth, are a line of cut back trees. The stumps are less of a problem, but the roots of the trees, some of which seem to be long and thick, stretch further out across the area.
